Funeral services for Frank Colbert, 91, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Sunday, November 15, 2015 in Oxford. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Colbert was born in England, AR moving to Grapevine, AR where he graduated high school. In 1943 he enlisted in the U. S. Navy during WWII serving on the USS Neunzer, a destroyer escort. He served in the North Atlantic Theater as a Sonar Operator. After his discharge he returned to Arkansas where he attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
He married Colleen Sanderlin making their home in Greenville since the early 1950’s. Mr. Colbert was employed with the U. S. Gypsum Company as a Forester before going into business for himself as a Timber Contractor. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a part of the Steadfast Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Colbert Graves, 2 brothers, Pat Colbert and M.T. Colbert and by a sister, Lola Colbert Green. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Colbert of Greenville, daughter, Lisa Colbert of Greenville and son, Mark A. Colbert (Pam) of Stuttgart, AR.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Greenville.
