Funeral services for Glenda Bell Warner Long, 87, of Morton and formerly of Greenville will be at 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 21 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. She went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 19 after a brief illness. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Glenda was born in Stewart, Mississippi on January 10, 1928 and moved to Glen Allen, Mississippi at an early age and graduated from Glen Allen High School. She and her husband, Stan, made their home in Greenville. She worked as a bookkeeper at Sears Roebuck, Paine Refrigeration, and Greenville Federal Credit Union before retiring several years ago. Glenda was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Greenville and was a volunteer at the YMCA. She exercised most days and challenged people including Jerry Rice on the treadmill. For the past three and a half years, Glenda has resided at Mississippi Care Center of Morton, Mississippi where she entertained the staff and fellow residents with her wit, mischievousness, and sense of style.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanton Lee Long Jr., her parents, Everett Engle Warner and Robbie Lee Warner, her sister Rose Warner Brown and 2 brothers, Robert Warner and Carl Warner. She leaves behind her 3 sons, Sammy (Maureen) Long of Brandon, Mike (Jorja) Long of Pontotoc, and Gene Long of Greenville, eight grandchildren, Laurie Long, Tom Geoghagan, Lee Long, Michael Long, Kaitlyn Long, Zach Long, Mary McNeese, Ryan Long and 8 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hodding Carter YMCA of Greenville or to donor’s choice.
