Funeral services for Richard Doyle Brown, 72, of Hollandale will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday at Darlove Baptist Church. He died on October 13 at Baptist Hospital, Jackson surrounded by loved ones. Burial will be in Hollandale City Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Richard was born on February 10, 1944 in Isola, MS to Leek and Annabell Brown. He worked 33 years at Deer Creek Compress Company until his retirement, 8 years with the Southwestern Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation, and was deacon at Darlove Baptist Church since 1985, faithfully serving God and his family.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Richard D. Brown, Jr., and many cherished members of family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kathryn Brown of Hollandale; son, Roy Brown of Cleburne, TX; daughter, Sherri (Renae) Brown of Southaven; brothers, Joel (Thelma) Brown of Hollandale, Walter (Ann) Brown of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Shirley (Bobby) Palmer of Florence, Darlene Foxworth of Indianola; sister-in-law, Betty (James) Lindsey of Winona; four grandchildren, one great grandson, and one expected great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, numerous other family and multitudes of friends.
There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday at Boone Chapel in Hollandale. Services will be officiated by his Pastor, Reverend John Read, assisted by Richard’s brother-in-law, Reverend James Lindsey
