Funeral Mass for David Wiley Jones, 75, of Houston, TX and formerly of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 19 at St. James Catholic Church. He died Monday, May 15 in Katy, TX. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery with full Military Honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Mr. Jones was born on May 22, 1941 in Florence, MS. He served two tours in Vietnam and served as an officer with the 5th Special Forces Group (Green Berets). He was also a retired Major with the Mississippi National Guard. Mr. Jones was a retired school teacher from CE King High School in Houston, TX.
He was a member of the Mayflower Society, the Society of the Cincinnati and the Sons of the American Revolution all of Houston, TX. Mr. Jones was a member of Christ the Redeemer Church in Houston, TX and was a past member and supporter of St. James Catholic Church in Leland. He was a graduate of Ole Miss and was an avid Ole Miss fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fernande Oliver Jones; his parents, John H. Jones, Sr., and Ollie Mae Walters Jones; sisters, Bennie Mae Jones Enyeart, Shirley Dee Jones Shivers, Esther Mae Jones White, Rebecca Ruth Jones Romero, Mary Elizabeth Jones and brothers, Paul Edward Jones and Samuel Nathan Jones.
He is survived by his brother, John H. Jones, Jr. of Jayess, MS and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Jones loved his family dearly.
There will be a rosary and visitation at 10:00 a.m., Friday at St. James Catholic Church.
