Funeral services for John Lewis Everitt, Sr., 86, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 4 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Sunday, July 30 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Everitt was born in Drew, MS and graduated from Drew High School and then attended Mississippi State University where he played football. He joined the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and after his discharge he returned home and attended Delta State University where he majored in accounting. In 1954 he married Doris Ann Brackeens. In 1963 they made their home in Greenville were Mr. Everitt was employed with Bunge Grain Elevator retiring in 1992 as manager.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997. He is survived by 2 daughters, Suzanne Muccino of Atlanta and Martha Tye (Roy) of Pittsboro, NC; 3 sons, John Everitt, Jr. (Sarah) of Brandon, Brack Everitt (Michele) of Greenville and Atley Everitt of Louisville, KY; sister, Marilyn Bruckner of Merritt Island, FL; 10 grandchildren, Jay Everitt, Will Everitt, Nicholas Muccino, Liza Muccino, Jack Muccino, Seth Muccino, Payge Tye, Sam Tye, Forrest Everitt and Mary Ashton Everitt; and 2 great grandchildren, Lila Kate Everitt and John Hall Everitt.
There will be a visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville and also from 10:00-11:00 a.m, Friday at the funeral home.
