Funeral services for Agnes Louise Williams Taylor, 93, of Greenville, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at South Main Church of Christ. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. She passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
She was born on August 19, 1932, in rural Sunflower County to Elmer Glen Williams and Ruby Ann (White) Williams.
Since moving from Drew, MS, in the 6th grade, Agnes has been a resident of Greenville. Her first job was taking up tickets at the Lake Theater when she was 12 years old. She graduated from E.E. Bass High School in 1950 and then attended Sunflower Junior College in Moorhead, MS. During High School, she worked in several retail stores. After college, she worked in multiple business offices in Greenville, including Rosenberg’s, Greenville Bank, and Universal CIT, where she met her husband-to-be, Milton Taylor. They married in July of 1957. After having two children, Agnes began her longest-tenured job, which lasted over 20 years, with the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, followed by a move to the Industrial Foundation of Washington County and with the Economic Development Council.
Agnes was a member of the Church of Christ since she was 12 years old. She attended the South Main Church of Christ in Greenville. She was a long-time member of the American Red Cross, serving as a Gray Lady at Greenville Air Force Base, as a Chapter Chair for the Greenville Chapter, and performing in 25 Red Cross Dinner Theater fundraising shows. She also performed with the Delta Center Stage in some productions. She belonged to the Delta Medical Center Auxiliary. She worked as a Poll Manager for many elections over the years. In her later years, Agnes enjoyed using her knowledge of antiques and found pleasure in helping Greenville residents with their family estate sales.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Glen and Ruby Ann White Williams; husband, Milton Taylor; sister, Dorothy Jean (Williams) Grimm (Arlo), and brother, Billy Wayne Williams (June).
She is survived by two daughters, Joanna Lynn Taylor and Karen Suzanne Taylor Wallace, both of Fayetteville, AR, and a grandson, William Taylor Wallace (Liz) of Conway, AR.
The family would like to thank Chance Owen and Kat Owen for the care they provided for their mother.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
