Aileen Cottingham Lott

Funeral services for Aileen Cottingham Lott, 85, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. After an extended illness, she died May 4 at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis TN. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. Her smile and warm heart will be truly missed by her family and those who knew her.

Aileen was born to Leonard and Alma Cottingham February 21, 1936, in Kilmichael, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Thomas Cottingham and Harley Cottingham, and her sister Mattie Gray Miles.

She is survived by her husband Charles Lott of Greenville, MS; her two sons, Steve Lott of Madison, MS and Todd Lott (Annie) of New Albany, MS; 7 grandchildren, Carla Hairston (Cliff) of Greenville, MS , Trey Lott of Maryland Heights, MO, Logan Lott of Sumrall, MS, Lauren Brocato (Patrick) of Leland, MS, Dr. Morgan Lott of New Albany, MS, Katie Beth Muncher (Grant) of Leland, MS, and Charlie Lott of New Albany, MS; 4 great grandchildren, Olivia and Caylie Hairston of Greenville, MS, Lexton Lott of Sumrall, MS, and Liam Brocato of Leland, MS; 1 sister, Margaret Harpole (Henry) of Ettrick, VA.

After graduating from Big Black Central High School, Kilmichael, MS in 1954, she and Charles were married November 20,1955. They moved to Greenville, MS where they raised a family and Aileen worked as an employee in the banking industry for nearly 40 years.

Affectionately known as Momma Lott, Mrs. Lott loved all types of animals, cooking holiday meals for her family, gardening, shopping, cheering at sporting events her children and grandchildren were involved in, and spending time with her friends and family.

Mrs. Lott’s family would like to thank all of the caregivers working in the various hospitals where she was a patient. Your kindness and compassion touched our hearts and is greatly appreciated.

There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. To honor her memory, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
