Funeral services to celebrate the life of Alton Wayne Lassett, 70, of Indianola will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Roundaway Baptist Church in Doddsville. He passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019. Burial will be in the Roundaway Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola.
He was born in Lula, MS on December 13, 1948. Mr. Lassett was a retired sales representative with McClain Grocery. He pastored Darlove Baptist Church in Darlove and Parkview Baptist Church in Leland as well as supplied pulpits in other Delta area churches as needed.
Mr. Lassett enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren, playing softball and watching baseball. He loved the Lord and loved his church, Roundaway Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Hugh and Vella Bell Walker Lassett, two brothers Buddy Lassett and James David Lassett, three sisters Billie Jean Green, Peggy Sue Knight and Glenda Rivers and by an infant daughter, Lori Michelle.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Joyce Lassett whom he leaves 52 years of memories; two sons, Mike Lassett (Kim) of Greenville and Greg Lassett (Jasmine) of Ecru; four grandchildren, Lori Beth, Camren, Karmen and Cooper; two sisters, Bette Howard and Kate Burleson and a host of nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to the services at the church. The family suggest any memorial contributions be made to the Baptist Children’s Village.
