Funeral services for Amy Elizabeth “Tiny” Petro, 74, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church in Leland. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Amy Elizabeth ”Tiny” Petro, was born January 30, 1949, and passed away peacefully after a short illness on March 8, 2023. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Bedear Petro Sr. and Amy Casevechi Petro. She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Dr. Anthony Petro, (MaryAnn) of Jackson, Paul “Bubba” Petro (Brenda) of Mandeville, Louisiana, Bedear “Bee” Petro, Jr. (Penny) of Leland; Sandra Petro-Schaefer of Novato, California and Paulette Petro of Jackson.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Amy Claire Hogan, Elizabeth Petro, Catherine Petro, Dr. Michelle Petro Pharr, Dr. Melanie Petro, Kristinia Gentleman, Michael Petro and David Schaefer.
Tiny was a lifelong resident of Leland, and she worked as a registered nurse at Delta Regional Medical Center and Leland Community Health Clinic. Her caring profession carried over into her personal life as she provided care to anyone in need and any animal fortunate enough to show up at her door. These animals eventually became part of the family. She took great care and pride in her garden (Lady Banks roses were a particular favorite), and she would share her vegetable bounty with those around her. She also loved cooking for her family and providing meals and assistance to those in need. Her warm smile and laughter were enjoyed by everyone, and she will be greatly missed.
There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to an animal shelter of your choice or to St. James Catholic Church.
