Funeral Mass for Angelina Menotti Fratesi, 94, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 15 at St. James Catholic Church, Leland. She passed away on Friday, August 12. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Angelina was a founding member, along with her husband, of Fratesi’s Store, which later became known as East Leland Mall and Country Club located on Highway 82 East of Leland. The store was opened in 1941 and she spent many hours working there behind the counter, along with her brother-in-law and store owner Tony Fratesi, while her husband was involved in farming.
Angelina was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church in Leland and the St. James Ladies Guild. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, animal lover, and a trusted friend to many. She was known for her gourmet cooking talent and, most of all, her ability to entertain all with her sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry L .Fratesi; her parents, Pete, Sr. and Videlma Menotti; one sister, Lena Reed (Jimmy); and one brother, Pete Menotti, Jr. (Patsy), all of Leland and her son-in-law, Joseph E. Grissom of Lawrenceburg, TN.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Fratesi Grissom of Lawrenceburg, TN; one granddaughter, Jody Grissom Plant (Jon Paul) of Lawrenceburg, TN; and one brother, Bill “Willie” Menotti (Sharon) of Columbus ,MS.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to one’s favorite charity.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful care given to Angelina at the Washington Care Center by all of the employees there and especially from Lee, Gloria, Veronica and Amber.
