Ann Hopkins Gresham

A celebration of life service for Ann Hopkins Gresham will be held Friday, November 10, at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Indianola. Mrs. Gresham passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2017 at her home in Indianola at the age of 89. Burial will follow in the Indianola City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola. 

Ann was born May 4, 1928. The youngest of four children, Ann grew up in Gulfport where she was an avid sailor and a graduate of Gulfport High School. She attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. While at Ole Miss she met her future husband, William Walton (Bill) Gresham, Jr. of Indianola. They were married September 2, 1948, and made a wonderful and full life in Indianola. Ann was an active and faithful communicant of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church for almost 70 years. 

Ann and Bill had four children, William Walton Gresham III (Laura), Gayle Gresham Henry (Michael) of Oxford, Susan Gresham Kay (Bob) of Austin, TX, and Thomas George Gresham (Louise). Ann is survived by 11 grandchildren, Lenore Gresham Livingston (Jeff), Elizabeth Gresham Veazey (Rod), Joseph Criswell Henry, Stephen Gresham Henry, William Patrick Henry, Robert Gresham Kay (Lissa), Ann Elizabeth Kay, James Walton Kay, Katy Gresham Blonkvist (Michael), Thomas George Gresham Jr. (Anna), Michael Houseman Gresham and 13 great grandchildren. 

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Pearce Hopkins, her sisters, Marjorie Hopkins West, Marian Hopkins and brother, George P. Hopkins Jr. 

The family gives special thanks to Mom’s (Gaboo) caregivers – Deborah Bolden, Martha McGee, Kathy Scott, Jackie Simpson, Virgie Walker, Dr. Walter Rose and Dr. Katie Patterson. 

Visitation is Thursday, November 9 from 5 – 7 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Indianola.
