Funeral services for Anna “Loyce” Woods Long, 91, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Due to impending inclement weather, there will not be a graveside service.
Loyce Long was born in Greenville, MS on October 13, 1933, and died January 5, 2025 after a brief illness. She made Greenville her lifelong home while also raising her family there.
Loyce worked at Greenville Carpet Factory for many years and at Western Sizzlin Steak House. She took great pride in herself for her gardening skills and maintaining her own yard even in her later years. Loyce was a generous woman who helped countless people throughout her life. Whether it was a place to stay, a meal, or words of wisdom, she never turned a stranger away. Loyce’s greatest joy was still caring for and loving her family. She was the epitome of what it meant to be selfless.
Loyce is survived by her longtime partner Glen Gibson, one son Jim Davis (Roxanne), two daughters, Debbie Wilson (Kenny), and Denise Harris (Joe), grandchildren Brad Davis (Terry), Candace Dixon (David), Ryan Davis, Jennifer Oubre (Josh), Julie Haynes (Ben), Anna Farish (Wil) and 11 great grandchildren whom she adored.
Loyce was preceded in death by her parents Alberta and Victor Woods, three brothers, Melvin, Marvin, and Wayne Woods, and one sister Charlotte Wright.
