Funeral services for Beatrice Bennett Wood, 92, of Indianola will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19 at First United Methodist Church, Indianola. She died Wednesday, March 16 at her home. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery.
Mrs. Wood was born on December 26, 1923 to Lenzie and Melzener Bennett in Montgomery County, Mississippi. Mrs. Wood grew up in Sunflower, Mississippi and attended Sunflower Junior College. She worked as a bookkeeper at Indianola City Hall and Inverness Lumber Company. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Prior to her illness, she was a member of the Indianola Garden Club and the David Holmes Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Kennedy Wood, her brothers Aubrey and Robert Bennett and one sister, Lillian Bennett Giles. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Boyer (Joe) and her son, Ken Wood (Carol) all of Indianola. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrea Skelton (Bill), Michelle Hannabass (John), Jon Farish (Jill) and John Rogers Wood (Jessica) and six great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks for the loving care given to Mrs. Wood by T-Bertha Richardson, JaNell White, Diane Clark and Tina Walker.
