Beatrice Myers Collier

Graveside services for Beatrice Myers Collier, 88, of Oxford will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 22 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. She died Tuesday, September 19 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. 

Bea was born on November 11, 1928 in Yazoo, MS to Henry and Myrtice Myers. She was a graduate of Yazoo City High School in 1946 and began working for Southern Bell on June 10, 1946. She was a retired steno and teller with over 40 years with Bellsouth and AT&T companies. She moved to Greenville when she and John were married on December 23, 1950. Bea was a lifetime member of The Telephone Pioneers of America and The Communication Workers and was happy to be a Partners of Hope for St. Jude. She loved her friends and especially the time she worked in the children’s department at the Second Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1952. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews and neighborhood children and shared their love and comfort until this date. 

Bea was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 61 years, John H. Collier; her parents, Henry and Myrtice Myers; sister, Marie and her husband Hubert Steadham; brother, William H. Myers and three life long friends, Maggie McWhorter, June McTeer and Precious Lucy Brewer. 

She is survived by daughter, Amy Dawn Collier Keen and husband Randy of Oxford; son, John H. Collier III and wife, Candance of Brandon; two granddaughters, Olivia Nicole Keen of Oxford and Teri Dolan of Pearl; two grandsons, Hollis Collier and wife Amy of Terry and Zachary Collier of Bandon; three great grandsons, Michael Hayden Rodgers, John Ethan Collier and Lane Dolan; two great granddaughters, Anna Hollyn Collier and Madalyn Briele Endres; brother, Kelly Collier and wife Mary of Wewahitchka, FL; two sister-in-law’s, Bettye Fortier and husband John of Hernando and Kathy Collier of Greenville. 

There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Friday, September 22 at Boone-Smith Funeral Home, 1580 S. Colorado, Greenville.
