Funeral arrangements for Betty Joe “Bo” Hagwood will be as follows; Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Hagwood family home. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Clarksdale at Oakridge Cemetery. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Greenville.
On Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, Betty Joe “Bo” Hagwood, loving wife of Carl Hagwood, 76, of Greenville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bo was born Feb. 7, 1942, in Clarksdale. She grew up in Clarksdale and attended Millsaps College in Jackson, where she received her degree in education. On April 13, 1963, Bo married Carl Hagwood and they raised two children together, Mark Hagwood and Blair Hagwood Williamson.
Bo was passionate about many things including her family, her garden, her puppy, Patches, and her church. She spent countless hours tending to her flowers and creating a beautiful garden in her backyard, where she loved to spend time enjoying nature, swimming, and watching birds. She also had a great love for her Lord and her church, First Presbyterian in Greenville. She spent many hours there studying, praying and teaching women and children about the love of Christ.
Bo was an inspiration to many by the way she lived her life with determination, courage, joy, and a humble, quiet spirit.
Bo was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Robert Tyner and Audrey Mae Burns Tyner.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Hagwood; her children, Mark (Catherine) Hagwood and Blair (Shawn) Williamson; brother, Mike Tyner; sister, Tuck Reaves; and niece, Douglas Reaves (Alan) Turner. BoBo also is survived by her grandchildren Madison Williamson, Parker Williamson, Spencer Hagwood, Carly Hagwood, Anna Meadows Cress, Gunner Cress, Reaves Turner, Whit Turner and Bo Turner.
