Funeral services for Betty Palmer Ruscoe, age 88, of Leland will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9 at Leland United Methodist Church. She died Monday, November 6 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis TN. Burial will follow in Oddfellow Cemetery in Starkville at 4:00 p.m. Thursday. All services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home of Leland.
Betty was born February 18, 1929 to Cleo and Bessie Palmer. Betty graduated from Starkville High School and continued her education at Mississippi State University where she received her degree in History. Upon graduation, she married Ben Wiley Ruscoe of Coila, MS on November 24, 1952. She was a loyal and supportive coach’s wife living in West Tallahatchie, West Point, Columbia, and Leland. She was an avid Mississippi State Fan, a honorary member of the M Club, an excellent bridge player and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Survivors include four sons, Mark Ruscoe (Jackie) of Asheville, NC, Ben Ruscoe, Jr. (Ann) of Clarksdale, MS, Jon Ruscoe (Marilyn) of Oxford, MS, and Shannon Ruscoe (Kim) of Collierville, TN; 1 daughter, Mollie Heleniak (Jason) of Columbus, MS; 9 grandchildren, Laura Bess and Taylor Ruscoe, Rhett (Cassie) and John Landon Ruscoe, Ben (Margie Claire) and Grant Ruscoe, Bailey, Jack, and Ella Laughmiller; three great grandchildren, Rivers Claire Ruscoe, Avery Catherine Ruscoe and Landon Wiley Ruscoe.
A visitation will be held 10:00-11:00am Thursday, November 9 at First United Methodist Church in Leland. Memorials may be made to the Leland United Methodist Church.
