Billie Opal Collum Gentry

Funeral services for Billie Opal Collum Gentry, 89, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 7 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.  She died Friday, January 4 at Delta Regional Medical Center.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

She was a native of Choctaw County, MS and was one of seven children.  She later moved to Greenville where she met and married Charles Gentry.  Mrs. Gentry was a crossing guard at Matty Akin School and Solomon Junior High for 17 years and she received the Crossing Guard award.

Mrs. Gentry was involved with the scouting program and retired as Manager from Colonial Bakery.

She was the kind of person that never met a stranger and loved to talk to people.  She was a faithful member of the Open Door Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles Gentry.  She is survived by a daughter, Julia Gentry Glenn of Fulton, MS; a son, John Gentry, Sr. of Greenville; three grandchildren, John Gentry, Jr. (Tabitha), Amanda Warren (Michael) and Amy Mauney (Clint) and nine great grandchildren.

There will be a visitation one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
