Memorial Services for Billy Paul Horton, 81, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home, Leland. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until He died on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Delta Health-The Medical Center.
Billy Paul was a native of Hollandale where he graduated from high school. He attended Mississippi Delta Community College before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served during the Vietnam Conflict and made his home in Leland after his discharge. He married Carolyn Branch in 1968 and was employed with D.O. Baker as Farm Manager for many years. He was a member of Darlove Baptist Church.
Billy Paul was a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) for 33 years, where he found strength, support, and a sense of purpose. His commitment to the program and his fellow members was unwavering, and he served as a mentor and friend to many. His journey of recovery was an inspiration to all who knew him, and he leaves behind a legacy of hope and resilience.
He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Billy Paul is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Prebol Horton, his brothers Kenny (Marie) Horton and Bobby (Bonnie Sue) Horton. He is survived by his wife Carol Horton, his son Jeff (Crystal) Horton, his daughter-in-law Brandy (Todd) Weeks, his grandchildren Dylan (Alex), Landon, Caleb, Angela, Tanner, Hailly, and Alayna, his great-grandchildren Levee Jayne, Sebastian, Grayson, Bliss, Holland, and Hazel.
