Funeral services for Billy Ray Harris, 88, of Hollandale, Mississippi, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Hollandale Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. He passed away on June 4, 2024, at UMCC in Jackson, Mississippi. Burial will be on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Dunklin Memorial Gardens in Kennett, MO, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, June. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Born in 1936 in Missouri to James and Vera Harris, Billy graduated from the University of Missouri before serving in the Air Force. He then moved to the Mississippi Delta, where he was a successful farmer for more than 25 years. Billy also served on the board of Guaranty Bank in Mississippi and was deeply involved in his local Baptist Church.
Billy was preceded in death by his loving wife, June Harris, on November 27, 2015, and his parents. He is survived by many cousins, young and old, and countless others whose lives he touched with his generosity and kindness.
Billy Ray was an incredibly special man who was generous with his time and took great pride in his growing family. His church meant a great deal to him, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Baptist Church in Hollandale, Mississippi, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in Billy’s memory.
