Funeral services for Bob Doolittle, 50, of Columbus will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, at First Baptist Church, Leland, MS with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Dr. Jon Doler and Rev. Kevin Cuthbertson. Bob died Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Baptist Golden Triangle Medical Center in Columbus, MS.
Bob was born April 29, 1973, the only son of Jimmy Doolittle and Sylvia Carpenter of Leland, MS. Being raised in Leland, Bob loved the outdoors and farming. After graduating from Deer Creek School, he attended MS Delta Community College and Mississippi State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He worked in the ag industry until 2015 when he created his own business, Spray Solutions, which he owned and operated until his death. An avid hunter and golfer, Bob enjoyed spending time with friends and family in a dove field, deer stand, or on the golf course. He was raised in First Baptist Church of Leland where he was ordained as a deacon. He was a member of the Rotary Club. A lifelong MS State Bulldog fan, he enjoyed following MS State athletics, especially football and baseball, and sharing that with his sons. After moving to the Columbus area in 2012, Bob joined the First Baptist Church of Columbus.
He is survived by his father, Jimmy (Linda) Doolittle of Leland, his mother, Sylvia Carpenter of Leland, and his sons, Preston and Reece Doolittle of Madison. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Orris Doolittle of Leland, and Bernie and Sarah Carpenter of Leland.
There will be a visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at FBC Leland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Columbus, First Baptist Church Leland, Rotary International, the Lion’s Club or a charity of your choice.
