Rosary for Bobbie Jean Rutland Sabbatini, 84, of Leland will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday followed by a Funeral Mass at 3:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Leland. She died Tuesday, November 2 at Washington Care Center. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Bobbie Jean Rutland Sabbatini was born to Maggie Thames Rutland and Jewell Lamar Rutland on January 17, 1932 in Lawrence County Mississippi. She was graduated valedictorian from Ruth High School in 1950. She then moved to the Delta and married Paul Sabbatini on June 20, 1959. Her working career included the Leland Ice Plant, Delta Insurance Agency, and Sabbatini and Sons Garage. Until her more recent illness, she was active in the St James Catholic Ladies Auxiliary and previously served on the Parish Council. Her son Paul Joseph is an oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, a city to which she and her husband Paul enjoyed many visits.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Robert and Junior. She is survived by her husband Paul, son Paul Joseph, brother James Rutland (Cecelia) and her beloved nieces and nephews. We also thank our caregivers over the last years Pearl, Shirley, Barbara and Pearlie.
There will be a visitation from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Friday at St. James Catholic Church, Leland.
