Camille Tatum Horton Colucci

Graveside services for Camille Tatum Horton Colucci, 95, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Novmeber 4, 2013 at Greenville Cemetery.  She died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Washington Care Center, Greenville.  Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

She was born September 19, 1918 in Amite County, Gloster, MS to James Marian Tatum, Jr. and Nannie Lea Berryhill Tatum.  Camille had been a Greenvillian since 1928 and was one of Greenville’s oldest citizens and former businesswomen.  She attended the old Court School, Central School, E.E. Bass Junior High and Greenville High School.  In 1953, she married Jerry C. Horton and together they owned and operated Horton’s Grocery on Highway 1 South at Reed Road.  Mr. Horton died in 1956.  She then married Andrew Colucci, a retired Air Force Master Sargeant in the United States Air Force, in 1960.  He died in 1972.  She continued to operate Hortons’ Grocery and Camille’s Gifts until 1975 when the business burned.  She also owned The Gift and Tot Shop on Highway 82 East.  After retiring from business, she was employed at the Greenville Juvenile Court for thirteen years until her retirement in 1996.  Mrs. Colucci was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Faithful Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, James Allen Horton.  She is survived by her son, Hugh Edward “Eddie” Horton (Suzanne); 3 grandchildren, Heather Horton Thomasson (Dave), Leigh Tatum Horton and Andrew Layman Horton (Lori); and 4 great grandchildren, Graham Thomasson, Eliot Thomasson, Caroline Horton and Kinsley Horton; and a sister, Doris Magio of Greenville.
