Funeral services for Carl Kennon Dewett, 80, of Greenville will be at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, August 10 at South Main Church of Christ. He died Monday, August 7 at his home. Burial will be Saturday, August 12 at Crane’s Mill Baptist Church Cemetery, Startzville, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Dewett was born on May 20, 1937 in Swiftown, MS and moved to Texas at an early age where he grew up in Palacios, TX and attended school. He was an U. S. Navy veteran and was retired from the Oilfield. He had been a resident of Greenville since 2002.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Knight Dewett and Robbie Alberta Dewett; brother, Kelly Knight Dewett and a sister, Martha Lorretta Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Goad Dewett; 2 daughters, Rhonda Foster and Janese Rowe (Ed); 5 step-children, Richard Goad, Rhonda Goad Majors (Danny), Jimmy Goad, Kenny Goad, and Chris Goad (April); 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:30 a.m., Thursday at South Main Church of Christ.
