Carl R. Griffin

Funeral services for Carl R. Griffin, 94, of Collinsville  will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.  Carl passed away Tuesday, January 20 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian. Burial will be in County Line Cemetery, Glen Allan under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
 
Carl was born in Cullman,  AL on June 10, 1920.  He and his brothers moved to MS to become share croppers. The rest of the family joined them later. He then worked at Grenada Farms for thirteen years and helped with the construction of Grenada Dam.  After which he went to work for Marlin  Drilling  Company where he worked as an engineer for fifteen years then retired.
 
He loved to garden, work in his yard, and loved his dogs. He was loved by everyone and would treat everyone good. After moving to Meridian he became a member of the Maranatha Church. He loved God and led a Christian life for eighty-two years.
 
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myra Stokes Griffin and sons, Tommy and Terry Griffin. He is survived by his wife, Diane Griffin, son Danny Griffin, and daughter Mary Folsom, stepson Lamar Knight, two stepdaughters, Polly Boyd and Lucy White and, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren.
 
Pallbearers will be Jay Jenkins, Chris White, Nick Knight, James Hendrix, Earnest Alexander, and Michael Bruce. Honorary pallbearers will be DJ White and Ryan Russell.
 
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, acts of kindness and support during the last few months. Carl was our rock and had a heart of gold. He will be missed by all.
 
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Rev. Danny Griffin, Rev. Gary Longo, and Rev. Anita Hall will be officiating.
