Graveside services for Charles A. Nichols, 86, of Greenville, MS, will be at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Born on July 23, 1937, Nichols was the son of Jim and Beatrice Nichols. Known as Nick in the work community, he was a life-long welder and spent many years welding with the city of Greenville.
Nichols was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jean Smith Nichols. He leaves five children to cherish his memory; Angela Atkinson (Boyd), Lisa Burton (Butch), Sherrie Nichols, Matt Nichols (Leslie), and Eric Nichols (Candy). He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren; Elizabeth Scott, Rob Scott (Wendy), Lauren Millings (Rob), Frank Burton (Natalie), Chaz Nichols (Kristen), FaithEllen Stubbs (Walt), Parker Nichols, Drake Nichols, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Known as Charlie in the Lake Lee community, he was well-respected and loved by all who knew him. He had a love for the outdoors and spent time fishing with his wife and hunting with his children. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Hunting Club for many years. He taught his children the value of hard work while raising them to respect others.
In the last years of his life, Charlie had faithful companions in his beloved dogs, Shorty and Ringo. They were constantly by his side and shared hours of television time and outdoor walks. They filled his days with joy and friendship.
The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Victoria Dunn who spent many hours, days, and weeks caring for Charlie with compassion, friendship, and love. Her care and concern for him will never be forgotten and will forever be cherished by his children and grandchildren.
