Charles Douglas McIntire, Sr., father, son, husband, brother, grandfather, cousin, nephew, uncle, and best friend departed this world on December 21, 2019 at UMMC, Jackson, MS after a valiant fight with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Services will Saturday at Temple Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. with funeral services at 2. Burial with be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. Brother Arthur Scott will officiate. Arrangements will be under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Pallbearers will be William Eric Tadlock, Gary Wayne Manus, Ray McGehee, Earl Franklin, Jr., David Rodgers, and Tommy Hughes, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Wayne Franklin.
He was born in the year of our Lord 1949 to George Vion and Queda Pauline McIntire in Imperial Nebraska. A country boy at heart, Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time out of doors his entire life. In his early life, he worked on his grandparent’s farm and rode horses.
At 11 years old, Doug and his brother Billy and sister Candy moved to Greenville, MS with Steve and Ada Rodgers, his aunt and uncle, who raised them. He attended Greenville Public Schools and was baptized at Glendale Baptist Church.
A proud veteran, Doug enlisted in the United States Army in 1969, serving two tours in Viet Nam, as well as time at Ft. Lewis, WA, and Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. He also served with the Texas Army National Guard, the Alabama Army National Guard and the New York Army National Guard. He was also called up for Operation Desert Storm.
After settling in Greenville, Doug sent several years working at the Delta Democrat Times before leaving to pursue a career as a truck driver. He joined Temple Baptist Church later in life and continued his journey in faith.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Queda (Hall) McIntire, his sister, Gloria McIntire, his eldest son, Charles McIntire Jr., and Steve Rodgers, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra (McCheyne) McIntire of Greenville, two sons, Patrick (Lauren) McIntire, of Greenville and Steven (Emily) McIntire of Sanger, TX, three daughters, Jackie Burnette and Jenny Guy, both of Greenville, and Angel Hernandez, Pilot Point, TX, daughter-in-law Pamela McIntire of Cresson, TX, two brothers, Billy McIntire of Tupelo and Steve Rodgers of Greenville, two sisters, Candy McGehee of Byrum and Sissy Rodgers of Kentucky, five grandsons Charles Lane McIntire, Jerral Tyler Guy, Johnathan Burnette, Charles Layne McIntire, and MacKenzie McGahey, and five granddaughters Alexis McIntire, Sevannah Cole, Haley Elizabeth Burnette, Jessie Renee Burnette, and Emilee Cheyenne Baker.
