Charles L. Goodwin

Funeral services for Charles L. Goodwin, 87, of Batesville and formerly of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Tuesday, March 10 at Mississippi State Veterans Home, Oxford. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. 

Mr. Goodwin was born in Noxebee County, MS on September 21, 1927. He attended and graduated school at Macon, MS. In 1945 he joined the U. S. Navy and was stationed in San Deigo, CA and was honorably discharged in 1948. He married Sally Permenter in 1949 and in 1993 he married Jacqueline Hale Hunter. 

He worked at US Aximinster formerly Greenville Mills for 42 years retiring in 1996. He had lived with his daughter in Batesville for the last 15 years. Mr. Goodwin was an avid MS State football fan all his life, attending the games to support the team. He was a hobby gardener for many years, feeding many neighbors both in Greenville and Batesville. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland Goodwin and Mattie Justa Hill Goodwin, his first wife Sally and his second wife, Jacqueline and by a son, Charles L. Goodwin, Jr. 

He is survived by his daughter, Judith Goodwin Russell; 4 grandchildren, Eric Robertson, Amy Gordon, Vincent Robertson and Jason Robertson; and by 5 great grandchildren, Chase Robertson, Aaron McIngvale, Molly McIngvale, Drew Gordon and Olivia Morrison. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
