Funeral services for Charles Wesley “Chuck” Cochran, 83, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 12 at Boone-Smith Funeral Home, 1580 S. Colorado Greenville. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Cochran was born in Tallahatchie Co., MS where he graduated from high school. He then enlisted into the U. S. Navy and after his discharge he made his home in Grenada where he met and married Temple Kirk. In 1966 they moved to Greenville where he joined the Greenville Police Department and became Police Chief in 1986 retiring in 1987. After his retirement he was a private investigator for 5 years and in 1993 he was appointed by Sheriff Harvey Tackett to lead the Criminal Investigation Division of the Washington County Sheriff Department. In 1995 he resigned to enjoy life with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. and Myrtle Fanning Cochran and by two brothers, Robert and Tommy Cochran. He is survived by his wife, Temple Cochran of Greenville; daughter, Judith Allred of Greenville; sister, Shirley Boykin of Greenville and a brother, David Cochran and his wife Nitza of Jacksonville, FL.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
