Charles William Barrett

Graveside services for Charles William Barrett, 85, of Indianola will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Indianola City Cemetery. He died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at South Sunflower County Hospital. 

Billy was born on February 13, 1930 in Indianola, Mississippi to Johnson Noel Barrett and Mavis Brister Barrett. He graduated from Indianola High School and graduated from Mississippi State University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After serving in the Korean War, Billy returned to Indianola where he began his farming career. He married Elizabeth Breckenridge on January 14, 1956. 

Billy was a member of the First Baptist Church, Indianola where he served as a Lifetime Deacon. 

He is survived by his faithful wife of 59 years, Elizabeth (Libby) Breckenridge Barrett. He is also survived by his children, Johnson Noel Barrett II (Liz), Charles William Barrett, Jr. and Elizabeth Barrett Wright (Robert); seven grandchildren,Alexander Scott Barrett, Charles William Barrett III (Hilary), Noelle Elizabeth Barrrett, Olivia Barrett Ellis (Gib), Mary Barrett King (Miller), Robert Young Wright IV and Barrett Elizabeth Wright. He is also survived by a sister, Doris Barrett Fisackerly (Howard) and brother, Richard Noel Barrett (Rebecca) and preceding in death by his sister, Anne Barrett Robertson (James). Many nieces and nephews also mourn his loss. 

Pallbearers will be Alexander Scott Barrett, Charles William Barrett III, Robert Young Wright IV, Gibson Elliott Ellis, Samuel Miller King and Brister Baldwin Barrett. 

The family will receive friends following the service at Billy and Libby’s home, 8 Lewis Circle, Indianola, Mississippi. Memorial gifts may be sent to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 366, Indianola, MS 38751.
