Funeral services for Cheryl Clifton Bonnette, 76, of Leland, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Leland. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the service time. She passed away on November 14, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery.
Cheryl was born in Kosciusko, MS, to Wayland and Katherine Byars Clifton. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to Leland, where she graduated from Leland High School. After she received her college education, she worked in medical records at King’s Daughters Hospital in Greenville before going to work at the Mississippi State Aqua Center in Stoneville. In 1986, she married Roger Bonnette, and they continued making their home in Leland, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a part of the handbell choir. Cheryl also enjoyed playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ronnie Clifton and Wayland Clifton, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Bonnette; daughter, Katherine Azlin (Matt); son, Roger Bonnette, Jr. (Sarah); and four grandchildren, Hayes Azlin, Josie Azlin, Olivia Bonnette, and Eli Bonnette.
The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
