Cheryl Lynn Cothran Estes

Graveside services for Cheryl Lynn Cothran Estes, 76, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Boone Funeral Home in Leland on Monday. She passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at her home.

Cheryl Lynn Cothran Estes was born December 1, 1948, in Oakland, California to the late Bobby and Florence Rainey Cothran. She was married to her late husband, Jessie Phillip Estes for 50 years. Mrs. Estes retired from the Washington County Tax Assessors office where she served 45 years as Deputy Chief Tax Assessor. She also enjoyed being a scorekeeper at various dirt tracks over the last 40-plus years. There’s nothing in this world she loved more than her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Phillip Estes; her parents, Bobby and Florence Rainey Cothran; her sister, Diane Estes; and her beloved pet, Drake.

Survivors include her best friend and only child, Melissa Jennings and husband Robert of Greenville; two grandchildren, Erin Keith and husband Benjamin of Winona and Joshua Jennings and fiancé Jimmie Whatley of Greenville; and two great-grandchildren Jessie Claire and Jace Taylor Jennings; two sisters Linda Griffing of Vicksburg, MS and Debra Groce of Carrollton, TX; one brother Robert Cothran and wife Melissa of Greenville, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, racing family, and her sweet dog, Lola.

Pallbearers will be Carl Kilgore, Edward Estes, Jimmie Estes II, Dewayne Estes, Shane Hawkins, and Justin Dillon.
