Chester Legg

Funeral services for Chester Legg, 64, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2014 at Leland Presbyterian Church.  She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, January 17, 2014.  Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

She was born May 2, 1949, in Leland, Mississippi to William Lonnie and Chester Allen Watson.  She was a graduate of Leland High School and Millsaps College.

Chester’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, which allowed her to appreciate beauty in everything and everyone.  Chester loved her family and her friends.  Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she spent the entire year shopping for presents for them to go under her 10,000-light Christmas tree.

When Chester was not Christmas shopping, she was either working as a decorator, where her love of color and light brightened up many Mississippi homes, or traveling with her beloved friends and family observing the beauty of the people and places of God’s world.

Chester was a lifelong member of the Leland Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, sang in the choir, and rarely made it to services on time.  She considered herself very blessed to have had the privilege of serving her Church.

Survivors include her mother, Chester Allen Watson of Greenville; children, Barry Moore Schuster (Eric) of Greenville, Robert Branton Moore (Oliver Gremmes) of Berlin, Germany; William Easterling Moore (Samantha) of Madison, MS; Cheslee Moore Ross (Jason) of Memphis, TN; and sister-in-law, Catherine Watson Mayo (Bob).  Chester was also “Gammy” to two grandsons, William Eatherly Schuster and Benjamin Barry Schuster.

Chester was preceded in death by her husband,  Herman Doyle Legg; her father, William Lonnie Watson, Jr.; and her brother, William Lonnie Watson III.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 -11:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2014 at Leland Presbyterian Church.  Memorials may be made to the Leland Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 148, Leland, MS 38756.
