Clinton Franklin Mixon

Clinton Franklin Mixon, Sr., of Greenville, MS, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in Greenville. He was born on October 24, 1940, in Little Texas, MS. He was the youngest child of Elija Byrd and Ella Ramage Mixon. As Clinton entered junior high school, he went to live with Neute and Lavelle Burchfield during the school year, allowing him to continue his education and graduate from Tunica High School in 1958. After graduation, he proudly served in the Army National Guard of Mississippi. In the Fall of 1962, his unit was deployed to Ole Miss to protect James Merideth as he entered the University. He was honorably discharged in August of 1964. He was employed by Tri-State Concrete Products of Clarksdale, MS, as Manager and Salesman. In 1962, he was transferred by that company to Greenville, MS. On September 1, 1962, he married the love of his life, Norma Stella Mixon. For a period of time, he was employed by Hovas Construction. In 1990, he formed his own company, Mixon Concrete Construction, Inc. In 1995, he was joined by his son, Clinton Mixon, Jr. He retired in 2002. After retirement, he spent much time at The Cabin in Water Valley, MS, where he enjoyed his shop and nature. He was well known for his knowledge of concrete construction, ability to solve mechanical problems, and his ability to fix anything. He later taught himself wood working, building basic furniture, and making MS shaped cutting boards decorated with Ole Miss and MSU memorabilia. He enjoyed giving these to family, friends, and medical professionals who cared for him.

Clinton and Norma made their home in Greenville, MS, until his death. In their 63 years of marriage, they were proud parents to 3 children and 2 foster children. He was very proud of his children, and especially his many grand and great-grandchildren. He loved to teach them all about hunting and share his knowledge of military history, mechanics, and life lessons. He also loved to tell stories of old times.

He is preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, and all of his siblings. He is also predeceased by his two foster children, Ricky Roberson (Kayla) and Beverly Ferrell Kelly (Maurice). He is survived by his wife, Norma, his children Tricia (Tommy) Harrington of Greenville, MS, Clint (Patsy) Mixon, Jr of Greenville, MS, and Stephanie (Mike) Kent of Oxford, MS, 11 grandchildren, Lauren (Kelly) Hudson, Angela (Deitric) Giles, Michaela (Tyler) Morgan, Robert (Dana) Lyles, Jordon (Carrie) Harrington, Brett Harrington, Jade (Qwadre) Clayton, Kelsi Mixon, Winn (Amanda) Kent, Conor Kent, and Reid Kent, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Boone Funeral Home in Greenville, MS, on Monday, February 2, 2026. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm, with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clinton’s grandsons, Robert Lyles, Jordon Harrington, Brett Harrington, Winn Kent, Conor Kent, and Reid Kent.
