Clyde Marvin Osborn

Graveside services for Clyde Marvin Osborn, age 98, of Lafayette, LA will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. He passed away on November 29, 2021 in Lafayette, LA. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

He was born August 22, 1923 in Kilmichael, MS. He was a WW II veteran having served in the 8th Division Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1945 in England. He was proud to be part of the Greatest Generation.

He began his work career at Big O Tire Company in Greenville, MS where he signed his tire repairs with a big “O”. He then launched his 43 year career in the food service industry with Morrison’s Cafeteria and Wholesome Cafeteria in New Orleans , Howard Johnson in Biloxi, and as Regional Manager of A&G Cafeterias in New Orleans. In 1978 he moved to Lafayette where he owned and operated Osborn Cafeteria in Northgate Mall. In 1989 he retired and was able to focus his attention on new adventures as an avid golfer and fisherman. He was well known for his many do-it-yourself projects as he was quite clever at finding solutions to strange problems.

He is preceded in death by his father William J. Osborn and mother Willie Bond Osborn, his first wife Sarah, his brothers James Percy, and Purvis, and sisters Willie Mae Haney, Lavelle Ward, and Lala Osborn. He is survived and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. All who were blessed to know him will miss his friendly demeanor, wit, stories, generosity, sharp humor, and vitality. He was a unique individual.

The family would like to thank the staff of the 5th floor of Lafayette General Hospital for their kindness, compassion, and professional care of our beloved Clyde.

There will be a visitation from 12:00-12:45 p.m. Saturday at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
