Funeral Mass for Debra Sue DeAngelo Tharp, 70, of Southaven, MS, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2025, St. Joseph Catholic Church. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. She passed away at her home on Friday, June 27, 2025. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery.
Debra was born in Greenville, MS, on October 3, 1954, to Cesare DeAngelo and Genevieve DeAngelo. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1973. On August 21, 1977, she married James Ed Tharp, Sr., at St. Joseph Catholic Church. James and Debra raised their family in Greenville until James retired from Mars, Inc. in 2006 and moved to Southaven, MS.
Debra was a beloved wife, mother, and a doting grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and bird watching. Most of her time was spent on her back porch admiring her flower beds.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Ed Tharp, Sr.; her parents, Genevieve “Vee” and Cesare “Chillie” DeAngelo; and brother, Sandy DeAngelo.
She is survived by her son James Ed Tharp, Jr. (Courtney) of Southaven, MS and daughter, Vicki (Greg) Fore of Greenville, MS; grandchildren, Morgan (Ryan) Stokes of Louisville, MS, James Robert Duncan (Cassidy) of Milton, FL, Gregory Fore of Greenville, MS, Ivy Kate and James Ed Tharp III “Jet” of Southaven, MS; and siblings, Mary Ann (Charles) Signa and Linda (Jimmy) Henry and Ricky (Celeste) DeAngelo.
Pallbearers will be Carter DeAngelo, Jeffrey Giachelli, James Robert Duncan, Gregory Fore, Ryan Stokes, and Randy Giachelli, and honorary pallbearers will be James Ed Tharp III and Cesare Wilson.
