Funeral services for Dena Jean Martin, 53, will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14 at Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola. She passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Burial will be in Indianola Cemetery under the direction of Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.
Dena was born July 3, 1962, to William Thomas “Tom” and Carolyn Chambers Martin in Fort Dix, New Jersey while her parents were stationed there in the Army. She lived most of her life in Indianola, MS. She attended Delta School for Exceptional Children, Cleveland, MS and The Little Red School House in Greenwood, MS.
She was a resident at Beacon Harbor, Greenwood, MS, Willow Wood Residential Home in Pearl and Clinton, Son Valley in Canton, MS and presently at Canton Manor in Canton, MS.
Dena grew up at First Baptist Church, Indianola, MS and was most recently a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, Madison, MS. Growing up in Indianola, Dena enjoyed riding her bike all over town and visiting at the nursing home. She spent afternoons with Georgia Plummer, her second mama, watching Brady Bunch, Happy Days and Three’s Company. Dena never met a stranger and is loved by so many people. We are grateful for all the friends and family that have helped along the way in taking care of and loving on Dena. Dena so loved her family and is now at home with her heavenly family.
She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Chambers Martin; sisters Cindy Hollingsworth (Scott) of Madison, and Renee Linebarger (Charles Jackson “CJ”) of Madison; nieces and nephews Jon Thomas Martin (Dianna), Anna Grayson Smith, Martin Linebarger, Barry, Morgan and Ashley Hollingsworth, Malynn and Jackson Linebarger; uncle and aunt William John and Carolyn Jefcoat Martin, Jr. and cousin Stephanie Martin Fletcher (Josh), both of Jonesboro, AR. She was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Martin and cousin, William John Martin III.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
