Funeral Mass for Domingo ‘Sonny’ Garcia, 75, of Leland will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Greenville where he served many years as an usher. Sonny passed into eternal life Friday, Saturday 6, 2021. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
He was born May 5, 1945 in Chatham, MS to Ignascio and Juanita Herrera Garcia. Sonny retired several years ago from Knu Manufacturing, formerly La-z-boy, after 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Mary Crawford, Louise O’Conner, Gloria Smith, and Rosa Garcia, and one brother, Ignascio Garcia.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Debra Hammock Garcia, his two beautiful daughters, V. Cory Box (Randy) of Pontotoc and Jennifer C. Garcia of Leland; two brothers Billy Garcia (Carol) of Vancleave, MS and Joe Garcia (Kathy) of Gulfport, MS; four sisters, Margaret Box (Jimmie) of Greenville, Lupe Pena, Mona Espinosa, and Frances Rippie all of Dallas, TX and his three grandchildren that brought him such joy, Kaitlyn Moore (Kenny), Anna Grace Hartness (Collin) both of Pontotoc and Preston Harris Garcia of Leland.
There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the services at the church. Memorials can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Jude’s in honor of his blessed life.
