Dorothy Anthony Brooks

Graveside services for Dorothy Anthony Brooks, age 87, of Greenville, MS will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Tupelo Memorial Park in Tupelo, MS. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at home. She was born on February 17, 1936, in Tupelo, MS. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Dot grew up in Tupelo. She worked with her sister and brothers for Paul Anthony Construction Company, who built bridges for over fifty years. Working for her father’s business led her to become a savvy businesswoman. She went on to co-own a car dealership and later maternity clothing stores. She retired at the age of 86 after twenty-seven years in property management.

Relationships were important to Dot. She cherished her years with her husband, Ned. She was a wonderful mom to her girls and an even better Nana to her grandkids. Throughout the years, she became Nana to many. She was always willing to lend an ear and help others.

She was a good and faithful servant of God who prayed fervently. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ned Raymond Brooks; her parents, Walter Paul and Gracia Wauneda Anthony; her sister, Havolee Parker; her brothers, Earl Anthony and Jimmy Anthony.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (John) Brodowski of Lake Village, AR, and Wendy (Rodger) Oden of Madison, MS; her grandchildren, Rhett Hobart and Gracia Oden; brothers, Dalton (Joyce) Anthony of Starkville, MS, and David (Debbie) Anthony of Tupelo, MS.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
