Dorothy Frances Dexter Hester

Funeral services for Dorothy Frances Dexter Hester, 75, of Benoit will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Benoit Union Church.  She died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Burris Cemetery near Benoit under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Dot was born in Pace, MS on June 9, 1938. She was a 1956 graduate of Rosedale High School where she was Miss Rosedale High School.  After graduation she married Austin Hester of Benoit and they made their home in the Benoit area for 58 years. Dot was an employee of Delta and Pine Land Company for 40 plus years and was a faithful member of Benoit Union Church.  She was a cherished and loved member of the Benoit community and was well known for being a wonderful cook and talented floral designer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Leo Benson Routh and by a sister, Phyliss Trahan.  She is survived by her husband Austin Hester of Stringtown; son, Bill Hester (Debbie) of Greenville; 5 grandchildren, Libby McRight (John Hunter) of Ridgeland, Merideth Van Namen (Stephen) of Cleveland, Sara Moreland Hester and Rachael Hester of Greenville and Trey Hester of Memphis, TN; 4 great grandchildren, Reine McRight, Brody Hester, Hall Van Namen and Jude Van Namen; 2 sisters, Trudie Weeks (Charles) of Cleveland and Sara Barnes (Charles) of Greenwood; 2 brothers, Benson Dexter (Cornelia) of Williamsburg, VA and Earl Routh (Yvonne) of Santa Fe, TX and by a brother-in-law, Alcee Trahan of Bedico, LA.  Dot also leaves behind a host of loved nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Margie Myers of Benoit whose support for Dot was immeasurable and a testimony of true friendship.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Benoit Union Church, P. O. Box 21, Benoit, MS  38725 or to a favorite charity.
