Dorothy Helen Roberson Mixon

Funeral services for Dorothy Roberson Mixon, 88, of Doddsville, Mississippi were held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 3rd at Roundaway Baptist Church. She died Friday, July 31 in the South Sunflower County Hospital. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.

Mrs.. Mixon was a lifelong resident of Sunflower County and the Roundaway community. She was the eldest child of Robert Wesley Roberson and Pauline Sims Roberson. For 67 years, she has been the wife of Wayne Mixon. Their family includes 2 children, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Mrs. Mixon was a nurse at North Sunflower County Hospital for 45 years. She was also a faithful member of Roundaway Baptist Church. Mrs. Mixon was an excellent cook and enjoyed serving her family and community.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Mixon; son, Todd Mixon (Pam); daughter, Susan Mixon Harrell (Gayden); sister, Margie Kelly; seven grandchildren, Ion Mixon (Deena), Jill Mixon, John Harrell (Haley), David Harrell (Henley), Stephen Harrell, Susanna Harrell, and Sarah Harrell; and great-grand children, Micah, Morgan, and Miriam Mixon and Cooper Harrell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers Robert Wesley Roberson, Jr., Bob Roberson, and Billy Roberson.

Dorothy Mixon “Miss Dot” will be remembered as a kind and gracious woman who desired to set a Christian example for her family and others. She was diligent and industrious, always putting the needs of others before her own.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the cemetery fund of Roundaway Baptist Church.
