Edith Diann Morgan

Memorial services for Edith Diann Morgan (Diann), 65, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Delta Regional Medical Center.

Diann was born on October 9, 1954, in Greenville, Mississippi, and graduated from Greenville High School in 1972. After high school, she was decorated with multiple degrees and was devoted to a lifetime of learning. Her education journey began at Mississippi Delta Community College, where she became a licensed practical nurse in 1975. She further advanced her education and obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at Mississippi College. Her thirst for knowledge then led her to Delta State University, where she obtained her Master’s of Science in Nursing, Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and became a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. This extensive training and her relentless ambition led her to become a respected leader in the healthcare field. In fact, she opened Delta Regional Medical Center’s first rural health clinic, which was a monumental accomplishment for the Mississippi Delta. However, her most honorable achievement was the Morgan Family Clinic, her own practice that she built from the ground up. She touched the lives of her patients and cared for them deeply. She would spend extra time talking with them during appointments, and her coworkers would have to knock on the door to remind her of the time.

She was an admirable nurse practitioner and loved her patients, but the thing that she loved the most was her family. When she wasn’t at the clinic, she could be found at home spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She adored her husband, and they were inseparable throughout their 40 years of marriage. She shared a special bond with her children and would do absolutely anything in the world for them. She was so proud to be their mother. She enjoyed taking trips with her son and working hard in her flower garden. You could always find her beautiful cats following her around the yard.

Diann could achieve anything that she set her mind to, could love anyone like her own, and could get through anything with the support from her family. “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:29

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hatti Dillon; one son, John Thomas Morgan; one brother, Michael Wayne Dillon; and one niece, Danielle Dillon.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, George Thomas Morgan of Greenville, MS; one daughter, Holli Morgan Blakeney of Leechburg, PA; one son, Tyler Dillon Morgan of Greenville, MS; four brothers, William Dillon (Roberta) of Hideaway TX; Charles Dillon (Cindy) of Greenville, SC; Roger Dillon (Cindy) of Mount Juliet, TN; Paul Dillon (Connie) of Avon, MS, and a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
