Edith Hytken

Graveside services for Edith Hytken, 83, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 12 at Greenville Jewish Cemetery. She died Wednesday at Mississippi Care Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. 

Miss Hytken was born on January 25, 1933 in Greenwood, MS. She attended the University of Alabama for her undergraduate studies. Her love for The University of Alabama Crimson Tide Football dates back to her college years. Edith had a great sense of humor and spent many hours watching episodes of Saturday Night Live. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the American Legion and watching her favorite movies. Her lifetime was spent loving animals, including her best, four-legged friend, Pyle. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Frieda Hytken of Greenville; sister, Barbara Jeanne Hytken Buchalter (Aubrey) of Tuscaloosa, AL; maternal grandparents, David L. Kaplan and Kate Kaplan of Leland; and great nephew, Luis Pernia of Vestavia Hills, AL. 

She is survived by her soulmate and best friend, Lee Edward Wallace of Greenville; nieces, Kathie Buchalter Carnes of Tuscaloosa, AL and Jennie Lichter of Birmingham, AL; nephews, Scott Edward Buchalter of Birmingham, AL; Robert Walter Buchalter of Boca Raton, FL and William Owen Buchalter of Boca Raton, FL; great nieces, Katie Brooke Carnes of Tuscaloosa, AL, Elizabeth Buchalter Unseth of Birmingham, AL, Caroline Buchalter of Houston, TX, Emma Buchalter of Boulder, CO, Lily Buchalter of Birmingham, AL, Marianna Kaufman of Syracuse, NY, Anna Lichter Wooten of Ragland, AL and Mollie Lichter of Birmingham, AL; great nephews, Joshua A. Lichter of Marietta, GA, Robert Blake Buchalter of Birmingham, AL, Eric Sheldon Buchalter of Birmingham, AL, Jonathan Buchalter of Lubbock, TX, Josh Kravec of Miami, FL and Robbie Kravec of Boca Raton, FL; great-great nieces, Charleston Unseth of Birmingham, AL and Addison Lichter of Marietta, GA; and great-great nephews, Kale Wooten of Ragland, AL and Bryant Lichter of Marietta, GA.
