Funeral services for Edna Earl McKnight Merritt, 80, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 29, 2020 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. She passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
She was born on August 8, 1939 to Thomas Albert and Lela Bell Yates McKnight.
Edna worked as a waitress at Gus’ and the Alamatt and had also owned her own Cafe’. She loved gardening and taking care of others.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas “Tom” Merritt; daughter, Kathleen “Kathy” Hendon; five sisters, Lexie, Dorothy, Helen, Earlene, and Bobby Sue; and by four brothers, Emmett, James, Arvel and William.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Baker (Leroy) of Greenville, Evelyn Smutzer (Joe) of Greenville; son, Michael “Bubba” Thompson of Tupelo; two sisters, Linda Bowen of Cleveland and Ann Horton of Boyle; brother, Bud Hodges of Indianola; nine grandchildren, Lisa, Steven, Brandy, Stacey, Joe, Heather, Clint, Cody and Christian; 17 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
