Elam Rusk, Jr.

Funeral services for Elam Rusk, Jr., 72, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Lighthouse Mission Church. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time. He passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 in Jackson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Elam was born on December 15, 1952, to the late Elam Rusk Sr. and Dorothy Jones Rusk. He was married to Davie McCully Rusk for 36 years. Mr. Rusk was a hard worker and his passion was agriculture. Elam loved to farm and owned his own farm for a period of time, and then began a career in cotton ginning. Mr. Rusk managed several cotton gins before retiring. Even after he retired, he obtained his real estate license and started a new career. He would do whatever it took to take care of his family. He enjoyed any event that his grandkids were involved in and rarely missed a ballgame, choir concert, or a chance to brag about how proud he was of each and everyone of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elam Rusk Sr. and Dorothy Jones Rusk; Stepmother Mildred Rusk and sister Marie Nevels.

Elam is survived by his wife Davie McCully Rusk; his brother Arthur Rusk (Mandy); daughter Kimberly Sims (Ronnie); son Zeek McNemar (Sara); 5 grandchildren Zachary Sims, Caley Sims, Lucas Sims, Nathanial Sheler, and Brittany Hernandez (Chucky); 2 great-grandchildren; and some wonderful nieces and nephews including great.

Pallbearers will be Hal Rusk, Chucky Hernandez, Terry Murrell, Justin Tutor, Lawson Stokes, Scott Oliver. Honorary pallbearers Monk Stone, Larry Coleman, and Tommy Pittman.
