Funeral services for Elene Whitley Grissett, 86, of Glen Allan will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 7 at Lake Washington First Baptist Church in Glen Allan. She died Thursday, October 4 at her home. Burial will be in Lakeview Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mrs. Grissett was born in Fayette, AL on December 23, 1931 to Raymond and Edna Lucien Whitley moving to Glen Allan where she received her education. She married Aubrey Grissett making their home in Glen Allan before moving to Michigan. They later returned to Mississippi making their home in Greenville before retiring to Lake Washington in 1992. She was an active member of Lake Washington First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School from 1996 to 2014. Mrs. Grissett also volunteered at Arms of Mercy and was also a member of The Lunch Bunch..
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2008; son, Raymond Grissett in 2006 and five brothers, Frank, Harold, Zabron, Truitt and John Earl Whitley.
She is survived by three daughters, Peggy Grissett of Ridgeland, Carol Taylor of Brandon and Linda Dishman of Lake Village, AR; brother, Bruce Whitley (Neta) of Camden, TN; and 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arms of Mercy or Lake Washington First Baptist Church, Glen Allan.
