Elizabeth Pitarro Fontana

Funeral mass for Elizabeth Josephine Pitarro Fontana, 74, of Greenville will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholi Church. She died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at her home in Greenville.  Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Libby was born on June 15, 1939 in Monroe, LA the daughter of Charles Frank Pitarro, Sr. and Josephine Pitarro.  She attended school at St. Matthews Catholic School graduating in 1957, where she ws voted Most Beautiful.  Her entire adult life was dedicated to raising her eight children.  She was active at Our Lady of Lourdes School, St. Joseph Catholic School and St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Her devotion to her family and her Catholic faith were an inspiration to all that knew her.

Libby was part owner of Francine’s Bridal Boutique in the early 1980’s and she also worked part time at Cypress Hills Tennis Club for 15 years.  She was an avid LSU fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Pitarro and two sisters, Annette Inzerella and Mary Ann Eaton and by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Hathaway.  She is survived by 5 daughters, Julice F. Curry (Rob) of Greenville, Donna F. Signa (Frank) of Stoneville, Terri F. Hamilton of Madison, Tammy F. Smith (David) of Madison and Renee’ F. Lehew (Kirt) of Murfreesboro, TN; 3 sons, Michael Fontana (Patty) of Jacksonville, FL, Danny Fontana of Fort Worth, TX and Ricky Fontana (Erin) of Cordova, TN; sister, Frances Conti of Monroe, LA ; brother, Salvadore Pitarro (Pat) of Monroe, LA; 20 grandchildren, Marie Curry, Robert Curry, Clay Curry, Frank Signa, III, Francine Signa, Severino Signa, Julianne Mustain, Caroline Hamilton, Catherine Hamilton, Nicholas Fontana, Reed Fontana, Victoria Ward, Robert Ward, Garrett Smith, Tanner Smith, Jordan Smith, Walker Smith, Madeline Fontana and Joseph Fontana; and 4 great grandchildren, Layla Mustain, Miles Mustain, Jonah Mustain and Gianna Bill.

The family will recieve friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a rosary at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to St. Joseph Catholic School.
