Emry Jennifer “Jenni” Cumbaa

Funeral services for Emry Jennifer “Jenni” Coleman Cumbaa will be at 11:00am Saturday, February 8 at Leland Presbyterian Church, Leland, MS.  Jenni passed away on Thursday, February 6 at her home surrounded by her family.  Burial will follow at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

Jenni was born in Greenwood, MS on August 8, 1963.  She grew up in Drew, MS where she attended North Sunflower Academy.  She continued her education at Mississippi State University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and received her undergraduate degree in elementary education.  She continued her education by receiving a master’s degree from Delta State University.  Jenni married Dean Cumbaa on July 9, 1988.  They made their home in Leland where they raised their two children, Lanie and Noel.  Jenni had a career of teaching in both the public and private schools in Greenville.  She spent the last twelve years of her teaching career at Washington School. 

Jenni was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend.  Jenni loved planning trips and traveling with her family and friends.  She chronicled their adventures in beautiful scrapbooks.  Jenni had a love of gardening and homemaking.  In the spring, you could see Jenni’s pink tulips by the back door.  She was a lover of animals, especially her two dogs, Charles and Daisy and the late Scarlett.  Jenni also enjoyed tailgating in the Junction and cheering on the Bulldogs.   

Mrs. Cumbaa was preceded in death by her mother, Emry Little Coleman of Drew, MS and her father-in-law, Col. Noel T. Cumbaa of Greenville.  She is survived by her devoted husband, Dean, and her two beloved children, Lanie and Noel; her father and wife, Mr. and Mrs. William Coleman of Drew; her brother, Bill Witt Coleman; and her sister, Camille Coleman Whitecotton.  She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Eloise Dean Cumbaa of Greenville; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Maryileen Cumbaa of Charleston, SC; and Bobby and Gerre Moak of Madison, MS; and four nieces and four nephews.
