Ernie Louise Hawkins

Funeral services for Ernie Louise Hawkins, 75, were at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church, Belzoni. Mrs. Hawkins returned to her heavenly home on May 10, 2015, after a difficult battle with pneumonia. Her loving family and her belief in our Lord Jesus Christ gave her peace throughout her struggles. She was laid to rest next to her husband at Mathena Cemetery. 

Ernie was born to the late Javis and Alice McLendon on March 20, 1940. She was blessed with a large and caring family. Ernie is survived by her son, Wade “Oggie” Hawkins, and her daughter, Mitzi Wasson; her grandchildren Alex and Jacob Hawkins, and Amber, Andrew, and Allister Wasson; her siblings Earline Prewitt, Willie Pearl McCauley, Benny, Bobby Joe, and Jerry McLendon; several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Wade, and six other siblings precede her in death. 

Pastors Billy Burge and Doug Pierce officiated the service. Pallbearers were Alex and Jacob Hawkins, B.J. Hawkins, Red Hawkins, Jerry Wayne and Robert McLendon, Mike and Jay McLendon, and Lee Pickett. 

The family would like to thank the Humphreys County Nursing Home staff for the care they provided Ernie over the last several years. 

Ernie is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is now at home in Heaven with God our Father.
