Funeral services for Etha Rodgers Champion, 92, of Indianola will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 at Liberty Baptist Church, Isola. She died Monday, October 14, 2013 at Indywood Personal Care, Indianola. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Canton Cemetery, Canton, MS under the direction of Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.
Mrs. Champion was born in Josephine, TX on December 30, 1920. She moved to Lexington, MS with her family then to Belzoni, MS where she graduated from high school. She married Robert Jackson Champion and they made their home in New Orleans, LA from 1958 until August 2005 when they moved to Indianola. Mr. Champion precededs her in death in 2009. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Arabey (Nick) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; a son, Cary Champion (Louise) of Indianola; 3 sisters, Loraine Upchurch of Hollandale, Marion Durr (James) of Belzoni and Nelda Childs of Yazoo City; a brother, Bud Rodgers (Marie) of Belzoni; 2 sister-in-laws, Ruby Rodgers of Belzoni and Dot Daniels of Tunica; and 2 grandchildren, Peter Arabey and Nicole Arabey.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.
