Funeral Mass for Evelyn Joyce Rossie, 91, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Miss Rossie was born in Shaw and graduated from Shaw High School in 1942. She later moved to Greenville where she was employed at North Street Grocery, then Sherman’s Grocery and Deli, which later became Sherman’s Restaurant. She retired after 40 years. Miss Rossie was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a very active volunteer for the church and St. Joseph High School.
She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Louise Ferris, Helen Cissell, and Marige Samaha and by a brother, Emmett Rossie.
She is survived by 3 sisters, Billie Tonos of Jackson, Rubye Sherman of Greenville and Nazira (Zee) Chudzinski of Heidesheim, Germany and by a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank caregivers, Ronda Williams and Jackie White, staff at Magnolia Gardens, and Dr.’s Lenoir and Cirilli.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
